CALAGUAS ISLAND - Day 1

I've read about Calaguas from different bloggers like Chyng, Lakwatsero, PinaySolo and of course my friend JourneyingJames who visited this island just a month ago. The only message that they want to convey to their readers and followers is this: "YOU MUST VISIT THIS PLACE".

So that's what I did, I booked a ticket to Naga for me and two of my friends when Cebupac had a P99 promo. And this is how my journey to Calaguas started.....

Nov 28' 11 - We arrived at Naga Aiport around 7:30am, weather is good, sun is bright and the sky is clear...perfect for travel! From the airport we walked towards the highway and rode a jeepney to Naga Terminal, fare is Php32.00/pax compared to a taxi that will charged you Php450.00.

The terminal for the van is located in front of SM Naga, just walk towards the alley facing SM and you'll see several vans with different routes. Fare to DAET is Php188.00 and it's a two (2) hours trip. In our case it became 2.5 hours due to the road construction in Sipocot and unexpected rain.

When we reached DAET terminal, we just transferred to another van going to PARACALE. Fare is Php50.00 and it's a one (1) hour drive. If you want to use the restroom you have to pay Php2.00. On the way to Paracale the rain stopped, what a relief!

Upon reaching the town around 12:40 we immediately went to the fishport to look for Kuya Allan, journeyingjames boatman, but he's not around. So instead of riding a public boat which cost Php100/pax, we rented a boat for Php2,500.00 roundtrip.

The boat is owned by Kuya BAYANI BANING and his sidekick's name is RAMIR CABATI. They don't have a contact number just go to the fishport and ask for "Kuya BAYAN", he is from Quezon so he speak Tagalog.

Travel time from fishport to this island is two (2) hours, depending on the behavior of the sea. We're lucky because the waves we encountered are normal, but we all got soaked due to the waves and the rain.

Malayo pala talaga ang Calaguas, ang tagal ng biyahe at nakakainip...tapos ang sakit pa sa butt at nakaka-ngalay sa kamay.

Since it's a monday, there's no other guests or tourist but the three of us! Solo namin yung island.....ito naman talaga ang gusto namin mangyari (",)
When we arrived, three dogs greeted us namely, brownie, blackie and whitey. When you go for a walk, they would accompany you.....how sweet (",)

The overnight fee in the island cost Php100.00, we brought two tents so we didn't avail of the cottage. There are comfort rooms made of nipa and bamboo, you have to fetch water if you will take a bath or defecate.

We didn't want to cook, so we just bought breads, canned goods and water for our overnight stay in the island. After we ate, we fixed the tents and bathed. Then, we went for a walk while appreciating the sound of the waves, the numerous stars, the fireflies, the powdery sand and the cool breeze of the wind. After that walk, we went inside our tent and slept.
