A DAY IN CEBU CITY

This is just a continuation of our trip from Boljoon. We reached the terminal around 3pm and Aggy's friend told her to meet at SM City. There's three (3) of us, with our backpacks and hungry stomach we headed to SM via taxi fare amounted toPhp 100.00. I don't usually ride a taxi because I'm a budget traveler, but I didn't plan this trip, naki-join lang ako kaya hindi pwede kumontra at baka magalit pa siya sakin.

Upon reaching SM, we went to the grocery and ordered 1/4kl of CNT Lechon which cost Php115.00 and 3 puso rice Php8.00 each.

I'm sorry I don't have a picture of my own because we were so hungry we haven't eaten our lunch yet. After that Atty.Mylene, Aggy's friend asked us to go to her dorm at Holy Family Village 1, she reserved one room for us to stay overnight.

We had our dinner at The Original AA BBQ, just walking distance from their village. It is famous for its delicious and affordable grilled foods and their iced tea served in a pitcher, looks like a float but taste so good! You should try eating here when you visit Cebu they have lots of branches in the city.

What you do is to line up at the counter, choose which food you want to order like chorizo, chicken, pork, seafoods and tell them how you want it cooked. Then get a table and order rice and iced tea from the waiter.

We ordered two spicy chorizo, three regular chorizo, three pork barbecue, three rice and spicy mix vegetable for a total of Php250.00. I would not recommend their spicy vegetable because you can hardly eat it due to its spiciness. Actually, ok na ko sa grilled food kaso gusto nila magdagdag ng gulay at yun ang napili ni Aggy instead of Adobo Kangkong na gusto ni Dianne.

The day ended, which happened to be my birthday. I'm sorry to Dianne & Aggy if I wasn't able to treat you...it's the 5th day of our 6 days trip and I don't have enough money considering that I'm a bum since June :(

DEC 12'11 - We started our day by going to Basilica de Sto.Nino, a 16th century church. It was built purportedly on the spot where the image of the Santo NiƱo, a sculpture depicting the Holy Child Jesus found by Spanish explorers in 1565 preserved in a burned wooden box which was left behind during the 1521 Magellan expedition (from wikipedia).

Next stop is the Magellan's Cross housed in a chapel at the back of the Basilica in front of the city hall.

Magellan's Cross is a symbol of Cebu City and the chapel's image can be found in its city seal.

After the Magellan's cross we walked towards the Cathedral passing thru a street in front of the Basilica. We prayed for a while when we reached it.

From the Cathedral we went to Shamrock to buy pasalubong. Then we hopped on to a jeep 08G and we asked the driver paki-baba kami sa TABOAN Market, fare is Php8.00. Binaba kami sa kanto at malayo pa lang amoy mo na ang mga danggit at pusit kaya hindi ka maliligaw. One (1) kilo of danggit ranges from Php520-600.00, while the pusit is around Php400-450 per kilo.

They said that one should be careful when going to this place, because there are lots of snatchers in this area, so be vigilant with your bags and don't wear jewelries. By the way, after you're done shopping the smell of the dried fish and squid will stick with your clothes, hair and body, so you better take a bath and change your clothes.

Once we finished buying danggit, we went to SM where we had our lunch. We ate steamed fried rice which cost Php60.00.

Then, we headed to the dorm to fix our things, we also took a nap before we went to the airport to catch our flight back to Manila.

All I can say is that, by far this is the longest (6 days) and most expensive domestic trip I encountered. I realized that if you are traveling on a budget, you should also look for a companion who is budget conscious like you. If theres none, then go solo (",).
